Obi may dump APGA for PDP

12 August 2014, 14:45

Awka - Following the alleged strained relationship between him and his political godson, Gov.Willie Obiano of Anambra, Peter Obi is under pressure to dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi, immediate past governor of Anambra State, is being persuaded by the state and the national executive of PDP to join the party ahead of the Presidential election, reports Nigerian Tribune.

To forestall Obi’s defection, APGA supporters are already calling on the party leadership not to shut the door on him because of his contributions to the party.

The strained relation between Obiano and Obi, is affecting the fortunes of the party as many APGA members, including House of Assembly members who were in sympathy with Obi, have left the party to join PDP.
