Osogbo - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun on Sunday picked a former Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Adejare Bello, as its deputy governorship candidate.
This was announced in a statement in Osogbo issued by the state PDP Chairman, Gani OlaOluwa.
He said the decision was reached after wide consultations with stakeholders in the state.
"The elders caucus of the party, after two days of serious deliberations, brainstorming and wide consultations finally agreed that Adejare Bello should be the running mate of Iyiola Omisore.
"The party has absolute confidence and belief that the combination of the duo will win the August 9 gubernatorial election," the statement said.
OlaOluwa, in the statement, said that the posts of the governor and the deputy governor were not meant for "political impostors".
He said that the gubernatorial campaign of the PDP would be officially flagged off on June 9.
