Lagos - The newly-registered All Progressive Congress came under fire following the deportation of 72 people originally from Anambra State who were residing in Lagos.
The Lagos State Government arrested them and returned back to their state on the claim that they constituted a nuisance in Lagos.
The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) described the action as inhuman, abominable and callous.
Tony Okeke the Acting National Publicity Secretary of PDP, in a statement, said the recent arrest and dumping of the Anambra indigenes was a violation of their constitutionally guaranteed right to reside in any part of the country.
“Making helpless Nigerians refugees in their own country, the APC have shown the kind of inhumanity and wickedness that will be mated out on Nigerians if they are elected into government at any level,” he said.
He added, “Leadership of PDP has observed with dismay the recent dehumanization of innocent Nigerians by the APC led government in Lagos state which contravenes section 15 sub section 3 (b) of the Nigerian constitution that guarantee full residency rights for every citizens in all parts of the country.”
He subsequently dissuaded Nigerians from voting APC into power in the next general election.
“Nigerians can now see that those who have been parading themselves as the Messiahs are indeed the real monster who will ultimately trample upon them without mercy if allowed to hold power at any level in 2015.”
