Ibadan - The PDP in Oyo State says the process of picking the governorship
candidate of the party for the 2015 election will be transparent.
Yekini Adeojo, the Chairman of the Oyo State PDP Elders Committee, said this
in Ibadan on Monday after its meeting.
"The post of governorship candidate of PDP has not been given to
anybody. Instead, it is still open to all interested members," he said.
The committee was set up to harmonise the interests of party members
who had been divided along factional lines.
Adeojo, who said that the party would pick its candidate either through
consensus or election, pledged fair play and transparency in the process.
He also said that the committee was making progress in re-uniting
members who were divided into factions.
On the absence of leading party members like a former governor of the
state, Adebayo Alao- Akala, Minister of State for FCT, Jumoke Akinjide,
and Sen. Teslim Folarin, at the committee’s meetings, Adeojo said efforts
were on to carry everybody along.
"The Elders Committee has been trying to settle the matter amicably
without resort to litigation," he said.
