Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) on Thursday said it would not participate in the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun.
Alaba Yusuf, the Media Advisor to PDM Chairman, Bashir Ibrahim, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the party was yet to conclude manual registration of members.
"The online registration of members is still ongoing. We should be through with the manual registration early next year before conducting state congresses and national convention.
He said that it was after concluding the three important exercises that the party would think of fielding candidates in future elections.
He said the state of emergency imposed on Adamawa, Borno and Yobe should not be an excuse for INEC to deny the electorate in the affected states their rights to vote in 2015.
"Eligible voters should not be denied the right to vote on account of insecurity in any part of the country."
He advised the Federal Government to resolve the crisis to enable INEC to conduct peaceful, free and fair general elections.
"The PDM will continue to plead with eligible voters not to lose faith but to come out en masse to vote during the general elections."
