Benin City - The lingering crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly continued on Monday as the two factions in the House resumed separate plenaries after a recess that lasted for over a month, reports Punch.
While, the 15 All Progressive Party (APC) lawmakers,with a clear majority meet at the Old Executive Council Chambers at the Governor’s Office, the 9 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers held their sitting at the Anthony Enahoro Assembly Complex.
The APC legislators’ session was presided over by the Speaker, Uyi Igb, while the PDP legislators sitting was presided over by the impeached Deputy Speaker of the House , Festus Ebea.
The two factions adopted different business calendars for their sittings for the remaining days in 2014.
The APC legislators' calender which was proposed by the Majority Leader, Philip Shaibu, is expected to run for 75 days.
The PDP legislators are expected to sit for 77 days- 17 days in September, 22 days in October, 20 days in November and 18 days in December.
