PDP Chairman blasts APC over N2.5bn bribery claim

Uyo - The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the claim that the PDP has offered the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Austin Okojie a bribe, reports Thisday.

The bribe was allegedly offered to Okojie by former Governor Godswill Akpabio.to frustrate the petition of  the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Umana Okon Umana at the election petition tribunal.

Obong Ekpo in a statement on Monday described the claim as false, spurious and baseless.

He challenged the APC to present evidence of how the alleged sum of N2.5 billion was disbursed to INEC officials by the state government, through whom, and by what channel it was transmitted.

Ekpo slammed the APC for what he termed its provocative acts of mudslinging, in a desperate bid to arm twist the election tribunal and influence its judgment, he said, will not work.
