PDP admits error on Akpabio’s nomination form

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has admitted that there was a mistake in the nomination form it submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on behalf of former governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, reports Vanguard.

The party stated that it nominated Akpabio as its candidate for Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial district in the March 28 National Assembly election instead of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

National Secretary of the party, Adewale Abiodun Oladipo, who appeared before the Justice Goddy Anunihu led Akwa Ibom State National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday admitted the error.

Oladipo, however, said despite the clerical error on Akpabio’s INEC form, INEC knew that Akpabio was nominated and sponsored by PDP for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District seat, because “INEC was present at the PDP primary that was won by Akpabio.
