Abuja - The ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace during the ongoing Eld-El Fitri festivities.
“We cannot move forward or get to the Promised Land as a nation in void of love, unity and patriotism. It is imperative that we eschew all forms of bitterness and unite as one people under God who in his infinite wisdom and mercy decided to bring us together," Tony Okeke, the Acting PDP National Publicity Secretary stated from Abuja.
“Our nation is replete with immense human and materials resource but we can only harness them maximally for the overall benefit of the people if we learn to work together a s people and put the interest of the nation above personal or sectional consideration.”
The Eld-El Fitri is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
It marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
In Nigeria, it was celebrated amid the political problems blamed on the Boko Haram sect, an outlawed Islamic terror group.
