PDP asks for vigilance ahead of Osun governorship race

03 December 2013, 08:31

Abuja - The Osun chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called on security agencies to intensify patrol in the state as the governorship election approaches.

The call is contained in a statement signed by the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, the call is necessary following the arrest and ongoing prosecution of 181 alleged fake electoral observers recently in Owerri.

The observers were alleged to be on their way to cause mayhem in the Anambra governorship election.

Olaoluwa denied allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the PDP was planning mayhem by recruiting and training child thugs through militant clubs in schools ahead of the state governorship election.

He called on parents in the state to resist diabolical training for their kids, which according to him, will ultimately turn them into thugs.

He said that the PDP in the state was conducting its campaign with all sense of responsibility, trusting in the capacity of the people of the state to win the governorship election.
