PDP banks on track record for electoral victories

03 July 2012, 09:47

Abuja - Mr Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said that superior ideas and track record of performance were critical to achieving electoral victories.

He said this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

The statement quoted him as saying: ``Violence does not win elections. Superior ideas and track record of performance do.

``We therefore urge our members to remain peaceful and convince Edo electorate with superior ideas in their campaign,’’  Metuh said.

He said that the PDP's strength in Edo had continued to grow with the approach of the state governorship election.

He expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge victorious in the governorship election slated for July 14.

Metuh added that PDP was only interested in a free and fair election.

``We are asking for the cessation of intimidation and regime of violence so that the people will vote their choice without inhibition.”

He commended members and supporters of the party for a successful grand finale of its governorship campaign which was attended by President Goodluck Jonathan.

``The unprecedented turnout at the campaign rally is a firm comment the party's strength.

``We are not in doubt that this is a compelling sign of a sure electoral victory in the coming election.”
