PDP committee to vet election aspirants

Abuja - The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has established a committee to screen aspirants contesting for State Assembly elections.

Abubakar Mustapha, National Organizing Secretary, of the party, confirmed the committee.

“Part IV (36) a of the Electoral Guidelines for 2014 Primary Elections of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stipulates that there shall be, for the purposes of the Party primaries for State Assembly Elections, a State Screening Panel whose duty shall, among other things, include the Screening of Aspirants from that State on Thursday, November 6, 2014 and hearing of screening appeals on Monday, November 10,” the statement read.

Mustapha added that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party nominated some members to serve on Screening Committees and Screening Appeals Panels for purposes of Screening Aspirants for State Assembly Elections nationwide.

He said chairmen and secretaries of the panels are required to collect the nomination letters of their members and screening documents from the office of the National Organizing Secretary, PDP National Secretariat Abuja before proceeding to their states of posting.
