Ondo - The PDP on Thursday said that there was no deal with Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State regarding the October governorship election in the state as being speculated.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Mrs Binta Garba, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party.
``The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP has been drawn to a report that the Presidency and the PDP are in a deal with Gov. Mimiko of the Labour Party,’’ she said.
According to her, the speculation is that Mimiko will retain his position in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
Garba described the speculation as completely untrue and a complete fabrication .
She added that the speculation was a calculated effort to deflate the rising profile and prospects of the PDP and its candidate in the forthcoming governorship election slated for Oct. 20.
Garba called on party members and supporters to disregard the said report and intensify effort in the ongoing campaigns to ensure the victory of the party at the polls.
