PDP equips women election hopefuls in Abuja

Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has organised a workshop for all its female aspirants as part of the party's strategy to equip women with the capacity to fully participate in the forth-coming primary elections and the congress.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, said the First Lady, Patience Jonathan will host the workshop the National Woman Leader of the Party, Kema Chikwe, was organising with the support of Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Maina.

He added that the aim of the Workshop is to maximize the gains of President Goodluck Jonathan’s drive for increased female representation in elective and public offices and  prepare all female aspirants, including all the incumbents, for the task of contesting for elective positions in 2015.

Resource persons are drawn from seasoned political stakeholders while the International Republican Institute (IRI) shall provide technical support.
