PDP is finished in Lagos, says Olorogun–Etti

28 July 2015, 15:11Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - Babatunde Olorogun–Etti, who has quit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the rival All Progressives Congress (APC), has hit out at the his former party describing it as obsolete in Lagos.

“It's time to face facts. PDP is finished in Lagos State. PDP can no longer compete in any serious way in Lagos. The local government election in the state will be a formality,” Olorogun – Etti said in Lagos Island shortly after formally defecting.

Olorogun-Etti declared two weeks ago his loyalty to the ruling party, citing infighting, irreconcilable differences with the leadership of the PDP in Lagos State, the stronghold of a former Deputy Chairman, SouthWest, of the party, Chief Bode George, and the party’s poor performance at the
2015 polls as reasons for quitting the party.

He urged thus his supporters in the state, particularly in Lagos Island to rally behind the APC.

Olorogun-Etti praised the former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu for steering the party along the path of greatness in Nigeria, particularly the South-West geo-political zone.

He said the development, growth and peaceful co-existence of the state should be paramount to us. APC is large enough to accommodate everybody.

“Senator Bola Tinubu has been fair to everybody no matter which divide of the state such a person comes from. Therefore, any citizen of Lagos State who loves this state, who believes he has a stake in the development of this state with a passion, has no reason to be in PDP,” Olorogun-Etti said.
