Abuja - The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is planning to hold a joint convention that would officially lead to the nomination and selection of its flag bearer for the 2015 presidential election, reports Thisday
The joint convention is expected to serve as the mid-term convention of the party where a vote of confidence would be passed on its National Working Committee (NWC) and to nominate and ratify President Goodluck Jonathan as the presidential candidate of the party.
The planned convention would be tailored along the United States presidential primaries whereby a serving president is usually nominated unopposed.

The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) would been meeting soon to ratify the merger of both conventions and choose a date when it would hold.
The party had earlier scheduled the mid-term convention for between May and June but was forced to postpone it due to the abduction of the over 200 female students from Government Secondary School in Chibok and the Muslim Ramadan period.
