Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday reiterated the Federal Government's commitment to the security of lives and property of Nigerians, in spite of the security challenges.
Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the party, said this when the Forum of PDP Zonal Publicity Secretaries paid him a visit in Abuja.
Metuh, while reacting to the spate of insurgency in the country and the abduction of the Chibok School girls, said that the PDP was saddened by the development.
"In all these that we are talking about, human lives are involved and the PDP will never play politics with human lives.
"We are more committed to the release of the Chibok school girls in order for their parents and loved ones to have peace of mind,’’ he said.
He added that though Nigerians might be expecting more from the PDP as the ruling party but the party was a better alternative for Nigerians.
The party spokesman expressed hope that, because the opposition party is not a better option to Nigerians, the PDP would get the peoples support in 2015 general election.
Metuh, however, said that the PDP was happy that some opposition leaders were beginning to be cautious in their statements.
On recent media attacks on his person, Metuh said any attack on the publicity secretary comes with the territory and the job.
"As the national publicity secretary, I expect that the opposition which does not have any opinion, views, ideology or anything to add, would be personal.''
He added that, the PDP under the leadership of its present National Working Committee (NWC), was poised to ensure that true democracy was enthroned at all levels of the party.
He stressed that the NWC would provide a level play ground for all party members, adding that the electorate would at all times, be given the opportunity to elect their candidates.
