PDP sets council for key Anambra poll

Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party has a constituted a 60-member National Campaign Council ahead of the gubernatorial election scheduled for Anambra State in a fortnight.

The party was scheduled to inaugurate the council later on Thursday at the National Secretariat of the party.
Namadi Sambo, Vice President of the ruling party, leads the committee while Victor Kwon, the Party's National Legal Adviser will serve as Secretary.

Some prominent members of the National Campaign Council for the Anambra election include Bamanga Tukur, National Chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, the Senate President, Honorable Aminu Tambuwal, the Speaker House of Representative, and Godswill Akpabio, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.

“The council is expected to work round the clock to ensure the victory of the party in the election,” stated the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh."

The election is scheduled for November 16.

More than 20 candidates will be contesting to succeed the incumbent Peter Obi.

Violence and irregularities have marred previous elections in the state.

However, The Presidency recently assured Nigerians that the governorship election will be conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.
