Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the recent attack of its governorship candidate for the Ekiti gubernatorial elections, Ayodele Fayose, allegedly by aides of the incumbent.
In a statement, the ruling party described the attack as “barbaric”, “callous” and “primitive."
This follows his attack at Adebayo in Ado Ekiti.
According to a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Kola Oluwawole, such a “naked and wanton display” of power by the incumbent governor’s killer squad had never happened in the history of Ekiti State.
Oluwawole also alleged that when the convoy of the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, was driving past the Fayose’s campaign office, some Fayemi thugs led by a security aide to the governor released shots at the campaign office without being provoked by four aides of Fayose who were rightly sitting in the inner room and did not know what transpired outside until they had gun shots directed at the office building.
He said less than five minutes after the convoy of the governor had driven past the campaign office, about ten alleged thugs on the governors convoy returned to the campaign office and shattered the building window glasses and vehicles parked within the premises with bullets.
He added that aides of the PDP candidate in the office at that time escaped death by a whisker.
According to him, the thugs who came into the premise were actually sent to kill Fayose because they were demanding that he should come out of the office and dare them.
“This action is very absurd and Fayemi should never think that he has monopoly of violence.”
He appealed to its members of the party to remain calm, law abiding and never take law into their hands.
