PDP sweeps council polls in Jigawa

Dutse - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 25 chairmanship seats and 255 councillorship in the Saturday council polls in Jigawa.

This is contained in a collation result sheet signed by the Chairman of Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JSIEC), Sani Ahmed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday.

The result indicated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won only a councillorship seat in Kudai ward of Dutse local government.

NAN recalls that JSIEC had announced the cancellation of the polls in Hadejia and Malamadori Local Government Areas for "electoral malpractice''.

The chairmanship election result indicated that Saleh Ahmed emerged winner in Sule-Tankar-kar LG with  57 477 while Sadik Abubakar won with 35 487 votes in Kazaure LG.

Adamu Abubakar won the seat in  Maigatari LG with 44 984 votes, Sani Mutari of defeated his closest opponent with 26 401 votes in Gagarwa LG and Abdullahi Idris scored 36 361 to emerge winner in Gwiwa LGt.

Others were Abdullahi Muku clinched the seat in Garki LG with 48 861 votes, Suleiman Dauda won in Taura LG with 46 602 and Muhammed Sani secured Babura LG with 65 706.

Ado Karkarna defeated his close rival with 24 556 votes in Yankwashi LG  while Alhassan Babandi won in Gumel LG with 37 602 votes and Yushau Abubakar secured Ringim LG with 51 114 votes.

Other winners included Sanusi Abdulazeez garnered  51 277 votes to win of Dutse Municipal, Hanafi Yakubu  got 111 254 to win of Gwaram LG and  Khalid Ibrahim was elected in Birnin Kudu LG with 59 253 votes.

Ahmed Nasiru won with 37 599 votes in Kiyawa LG, Muhammed Sabiu scored 24 584 to win in Miga LG, Musa Garba   emerged winner with 42 928 votes in Jahun LG and Saleh Magaji was also elected in Buji LG with 36 900 votes.

The result also showed  Muhammed Bundai emerged winner with 55 363 votes in Birniwa LG, Garba Tambale  also won with 92 223 votes in of Kafin-hausa and Haruna Dauda won in Guri with 41 629 votes.

Also  elected were, Ibrahim Alhassan who scored 45 585 to win in Auyo LG, Muhammad Matafari got 56 378 to clinch the seat in Kirikasama LG, Kabir Magaji  won in Roni LG with 35 872 votes and Ismail Hussaini emerged winner in Kaugama local government.
