PDP vows not to give up on Rivers, Akwa Ibom

26 October 2015, 14:08

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it is not willing to surrender the mandate freely given to it by the people in any part of the country, particularly in Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Taraba states where it won in the last general elections, reports New Telegraph.

The party in a statement issued against the backdrop of the nullification of the election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, by the Election Petitions Tribunal, accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the judiciary and security agencies to influence tribunal cases.

The statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh described the tribunal judgements in Akwa Ibom and Rivers states last week as an orchestrated plan by APC to rob it of its mandate in the two states.

The party said though it seeks peace, it is not ready to accept the peace of a graveyard.

The party warned the President and the APC not to tamper with its victories in the states.
