'PDP will win 2015 presidential election'

22 January 2014, 17:05

Sokoto - A former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Gusau, on Tuesday expressed optimism that the party would win the 2015 presidential election.

Gusau told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the party would continue to win elections in the country.

He said that the defection of five governors and 37 members of the House of Representatives would not in any way affect the chances of the party in the forth coming presidential elections.

"On daily basis, more people are defecting to the PDP from other parties.

"I can assure you that the fortune of the PDP cannot be affected because we are not sleeping and we also receive more people from the opposition parties on daily basis," he said.

Gusau said as democrats, the door of the party was open to all and called on its supporters not to panic because of the defected governors.

"We have put in place political mechanisms that will continue to promote the ideals of our great party in the minds of the Nigerian electorate," he said.
