PDP wins bye-election in Kaduna

07 July 2014, 11:29

Kaduna - The People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Timothy Chindo, has won Saturday’s bye-election into the Kaduna State of Assembly (KDHA) in Kauru Lolcal Government Area.

The election was conducted to replace late Tukura Shuaibu, who died on May 30.

Alhaji Abubakar, the Electoral Secretary, who announced the result on Sunday in Kauru, said Chindo of Kwasam ward polled 36 451 votes, while his APC counterpart, Isaac Zankai of Bital ward scored 16 451 votes.

Usman Dandaura, the Council Chairman, while congratulating the winner, commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

Dandaura said that the electorate had demonstrated an enviable sense of maturity, adding that the success of the exercise was a pointer to the development of the area.

The chairman said that there were no reports of ugly incidences from any quarters, adding "we must commend our people for cooperating with security operatives to ensure a hitch-free exercise".

Joseph Gumbari, the PDP Zone 3 Chairman in the state, while congratulating the winner urged the people to continue to support the party at all levels in subsequent elections.
