Port Harcourt - The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers on Wednesday, passed a vote of confidence in Nyesom Wike, the minister of state for Education.
This is contained in a statement by Jerry Needam, the special adviser on media to the Chairman, Felix Obuah, in Port Harcourt.
The statement said that the party was satisfied with the minister’s achievements since his appointment in 2011.
It urged the people to disregard calls made by the state chapter of the national councillor’s forum of Nigeria for the minister’s sack.
"The Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter has passed a vote of confidence in the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike.
"The Party has watched and participated in his activities from 2011 when was appointed minister of state for education till date and is satisfied with the manner he has continued to pilot the affairs of the party in the State,’’ it said.
The statement said the support and leadership of the minister had ensured the growth of the party in the state.
"It is in the light of this that the Party appealed to the President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to discountenance unfounded claims and speculations by a faceless group on the Minister,'' it said.
