Plateau Assembly honours late colleagues

26 July 2012, 13:24

Plateau - The Plateau House of Assembly on Thursday, suspended further plenary sessions for this week in honour of its dead colleagues.

A statement by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr Diket Plang, said that normal sessions would resume on July 31.

``The break is to honour our Majority Leader of the Assembly, Mr Gyang Fulani and Sen. Gyang Dantong, who died recently.’’

The law makers, who died in a stampede when gunmen attacked mourners at a burial ground in Maseh, Riyom Local Government, were buried this week.

Another law maker, Rep. Simon Mwadkon, representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, who also slumped during the stampede, was however revived at the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi.

The late Dantong represented Plateau North in the Senate.
