29 August 2014, 10:22Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Plateau North Senator, Gyang Nyam Pwajok, has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term in 2015.

Chuwang Dungs, Special Assistant to the lawmaker on Media and Publicity, confirmed the endorsement in a statement.

According to Dungs, the Senator urged Northerners to vote enmasse for President Goodluck Jonathan, in his second term bid in 2015.

He said the people of Plateau had resolved to support the re-election campaign.

Dung said the lawmaker made the call through his aide, Ayuba Jagaba, when officials of Amalgamated Northern Youths for the ruling People's Democratic Party officially presented a certificate of trusteeship to the senator.

He noted that Governor Jonah David Jang, being the leader of PDP in the state was the first among all the PDP governors to declare support for the President re-election.

“We are solidly behind our governor. We will go with a leader who has brought us redemption.  We in Plateau, when we say yes, it will remain yes, come rain, come sunshine, I can vouch for our people,” Pwajok's spokesman stated.

He said the Senator maintained his position on the fact that the President through his transformation programme had done a lot for the North.

“Yes, there are challenges but he is doing the best that he can to make this country, especially the North a better place for us. We in Plateau we have pledged to support him.”

The National Chairman of Amalgamated Northern Youths for PDP, Aruwa Ismaila, urged Nigerians to appreciate the good work Jonathan was doing and to continue to support the PDP government at all level for a better country.

He said the decision to select Pwajok to serve as a trustee of the group was based on his good records and contributions in the redemption programme in the state.

“We are here today to present him with a certificate to serve as one of our trustee, because of his good records, we recognise his contributions in the redemption programme which has brought a lot of transformation in the state,” Ismaila noted.

He endorsed Jonathan.

“We will work with you to deliver millions of Northern votes to the PDP. We are going to mobilize support for Dr Jonathan. I am assuring you the North will vote overwhelmingly for him to re-emerge as the country's President in 2015,” added Ismaila.
