Abuja – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar, has again sent another batch of about 17 000 on promotion courses as part of preparations for next year’s general election.
Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer Force confirmed from the Police Headquarters in Abuja that16 691 officer would attend such courses.
“The officers while on the course are expected to undergo intensive training on election protection duties. This training is part of proactive and comprehensive measures by the Force to ensure an orderly, crisis-free and violent-free election ahead of 2015. The course which is concurrently taking place at various Police training institutions nationwide is specially designed to equip the men with new skills in standard operational policing practices, human rights protections, and principles of democratic policing as well as rules of engagement in election security,” he stated.
He said the IGP expects the promotion to boost the morale of the men as this will aid their optimal performance in field operations. He further congratulates the officers while charging them to imbibe the character of discipline and professional ethics in line with the code of conduct of the force.
Mba added that the IGP assured Nigerians that the police would continue to strategically adopt the best approaches in ensuring the security of lives and property as well as protecting the integrity of all elections in the country.
