Rivers - The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has expelled 14 commissioners and four other top functionaries loyal to the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Vanguard reports.
The state Chairman of the PDP, Felix Obuah, who announced the expulsion stated that the expulsion of the PDP members became necessary as a result of the recommendation of the Performance Evaluation and Disciplinary Committee of the party.
The state PDP chairman added that affected members had to face expulsion for refusing to appear before the Performance Evaluation Committee, which was set up to appraise the achievements of public office holders in the party.
Reacting, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Tony Okocha, said the PDP in the state had no power to expel him and other members of the State Executive Council.
