Saraki begs Emirs over trial

Abuja - Senate President, Bukola Saraki has started lobbying monarchs from the north in a last desperate attempt to halt his prosecution for false asset declaration and a possible impeachment move against him, reports The Nation.

Saraki had audience with some traditional rulers from the North on Saturday to explained his own side and how things could be straightened.

Saraki has equally drafted some members of the Like Minds in the Senate to meet the emirs to plead on his behalf.

The loyalsits in their various meetings with the emirs insisted that Saraki’s arraignment in court is political.

Some of the senators were said to be urging the emirs to prevail on the federal government to drop charges against Senator Saraki.

The senators are also pleading with the emirs to help resolve the crisis of confidence between President Muhammadu Buhari and Saraki.
