Senate committee recommends stay of action on Amaechi’s screening

Abuja - Hope of the embattled former Governor of Rivers, Chibuike Amaechi, appearing before the Senate for screening as a ministerial nominee has hit a brick wall, reports The Sun.

The Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petition has recommended a stay of action on his screening until some issues are addressed.

The committee, which will formally submit its report to the whole Senate on Tuesday, made the recommendation based on the complexity of Amaechi’s case.

In recommending the stay of action on Amaechi’s screening, the committee headed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, said it look at the merits and demerits of the petitions against the former Rivers governor.

A member of the committee revealed that members took cognizance of the white paper submitted to it by the current Rivers State government, which indicted Amaechi.
