Ibadan - The ministerial nominee for Oyo State, Wahab Stittu has begun moves to stave off opposition by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, reports The Nation.
Shittu, who is from the Oke-Ogun area of the state, has taken his case to traditional rulers in the area to intercede on his behalf.
He is urging the monarch to prevail on the APC leaders to stop the acrimony against his nomination.
Shittu is alleged to have told the monarchs that the APC leaders are opposed his nomination because the party does not want the slot to come to Oke-Ogun.

Shittu chose to play the ethnic card because he viewed it as a strong weapon that could cow his opponents.
The party leadership is, however, fighting back.
The party leaders have been educating the monarchs that the case was beyond individuals or sentiments.
The leaders are insisting on substituting Shittu with a core party member and a team player from Oke-Ogun .
It would be recalled that the leadership of the party in the state has kicked against Shittu nomination as a ministerial nominee representing the state,
The leaders accused him of not participating in party activities or feature in any governmental programmes at all levels.
