29 July 2015, 11:50Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - The South-East Politicians Forum (SEPF) has sprung to the defence of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, amid the tensions within the ruling party.

SEPF Coordinator of South-East, Maxwell Nwosu, said the leaders in the region not only appreciated Oyegun’s political contributions and personal strength but commended him for his efforts in helping APC build bridges of unity across ethnic and religious divides.

It is said Oyegu is giving purposeful leadership to APC and stamping his unique leadership style in the management of the party.

“John Odigie Oyegun is humble, gentle and genial to the core. He is also honest, kind, generous and selfless. He has taken principled positions on a wide range of party issues," said Nwosu.

"His leadership style has earned him the gratitude and admiration of many while his conviction and willingness to speak out with a clear voice make him the best national chairman in the country,” Nwosu said in Enugu.

He said the national chairman has been an outstanding beacon of reason and understanding of Nigeria’s government and politics.

"He has helped to reshape party politics in the country. His outstanding leadership is appreciated by Nigerians from all walks of life,” said Nwosu.

Nwosu said leaders in the region called on Nigerians to join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari to develop the country.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency is earning Nigeria enormous international goodwill and support,” added Nwosu.
