Taraba - Taraba State Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, has sacked his Chief of Staff, Ahmed Yusuf.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed and made available to media on Tuesday by Kefas Sule, Chief Press, Secretary to the acting governor.
"His Excellency, the Acting Governor of Taraba State, Garba Umar has given consent to the request of his Chief of Staff, Ahmed Yusuf to step aside."
Although the statement claimed that Yusuf, willingly decided to "step aside" but some members of the House who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymous said the sack was as a result of pressure from the entire members of the State House of Assembly.
"It is unfortunate that our spokesperson who is the House Committee Chairman on Information, Culture and Tourism, Daniel Ishaya Gani, is not on ground to attend to you, but I am sure you all know the circumstances that led to his sacked," a member said.
"Ahmed Yusuf is not a threat, so I see no reason why his sacked should be a subject of discussion when we have other problems that needs urgent attentions here in our state. For any person to tell you that he willingly resigned his appointment, I think that is very unfair. He has been sacked as Chief of Staff to the Acting Governor, so we are glad that one of our major demands has been meant."
Before his appointment Yusuf was the Chairman of the Board of Taraba State Investments and Property Limited. The statement he would continue his capacity as the chairman of the aforementioned board.
