Abuja - The Taraba Youth and Women Coalition (TYWC), a local group, appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to promote Minister State of Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Dickson Ishaku, to a fully-fledged Minister owing to his loyalty to the President.
The group said the state, where Ishaku hails from, had being giving the much needed support to both the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the President.
The group beckoned at the need to reconsider Ishaku, whom it said it observed had been faithful to the president and the party at large, to the position of a senior minister.
The group, in an open letter to the President, tagged “Taraba State and Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku Deserve A Full Ministerial Appointment,” expressed dismay in the recent ministerial appointment which still retained Ishaku as a “junior minister.”
According to the group, Ishaku, who was before been assigned with the responsibility to oversee the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, deserved to be given a senior role in the recent ministerial appointments that led to the appointment of four new ministers.
Part of the letter which was signed by the Coordinator, Thomas Dauda, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ann Kura, and seven other members read: “It was therefore most confounding that Ishaku was recently by-passed again when a new Minister was appointed to head the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and Ishaku left to hold on as a junior minister.”
The group also seeks to know why the state, in spite of its contribution to the growth of the country, had allegedly continued to be relegated to the background.
“Does Taraba as a state that has even once occupied the office of the minister for Defense in this great country deserve only a junior portfolio?" the group asked.
