Taraba officials mum on Suntai's fitness

29 August 2013, 08:39

Abuja - The Taraba State lawmakers who visited Governor Danbaba Suntai to assess if he was fit to resume work, have not publicly stated their position on Suntai's fitness.

The 24 members of the State House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended their sitting and decided to meet with the governor.

Before proceeding to meet Suntai, the lawmakers reportedly avoided the appointment of a new Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government by the returning governor.

Citizens of the state who were waiting for the lawmakers to speak after their visit became disappointed on the new development.

On Wednesday, the governor dissolved the entire executive council of the state and approved the appointment of a new Secretary to the State government.

Timothy Kataps and Mallam Aminu Jika were appointed the new Secretary to the State government and Chief of Staff respectively.

Previously, the speaker of the state House of Assembly Haruna Tsokwa vowed not to recognize Suntai as the State Governor.

Suntai returned to Nigeria this past weekend from the United States where he was receiving treatment for injuries sustained following a plane crash last October.
