Thousands of PDP members defect to APC

17 August 2015, 15:12

Akure - No fewer than 3 400 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State on Sunday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reports Tribune.

The defectors were from the oil rich Ilaje local government area of the state.

The defectors said they were leaving the PDP because of the situation the leaders of the party plunged the country to in the last 16 years that they have been in the saddle.

Led by Glory Okuntade, the defectors said there was nothing to show their supporters in the coastal community for their support for PDP, despite being the only oil producing community in the state.

Other who defected include Timi Olowofoyeku, Dele Asogbon, Ademibo Okuntade, Festus Ademuwagun, Ebini Idowu and Oronla Adebanjo.

The defectors were received into the APC fold by Olusola Oke, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in the last governorship election in the state.
