Damaturu - The Yobe State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Ibrahim Geidam of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11, 2015 election, reports Daily Trust.
The tribunal in its judgement on Wednesday dismissed the petition of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate Adamu Maina Waziri for his inability to prove beyond reasonable doubt that there were electoral malpractices in the April 2015 governorship poll in the state.

The tribunal chairman, Justice Mojisola Dada in the judgment delivered in Abuja, held that in spite of insurgency of Boko Haram in the state, elections still took place.
Waziri had urged the tribunal to annul the election and order a re-run saying that the polls were characterized by over voting and did not comply with the Electoral Act.
