Abeokuta - The election of Senator Buruji Kashamu, representing Ogun East Senatorial district, as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been nullified.
The Ogun State National and House of Assembly election in its judgement on Friday in the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress’s candidate, Dapo Abiodun ruled that Kashmu was not duly elected in the March 28 National Assembly election.
Kashumu was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election

Abiodun in the petition argued that Kashamu was not qualified to contest the election and did not score the highest number of lawful votes as required by law.
The tribunal also nullified the election of a federal lawmaker, representing Ijebu East /Ijebu North /Ogun waterside, Adekoya Adesegun.
Five members of the Ogun state assembly were also sacked by the tribunal on Friday, over non-compliance to electoral law
