Akure - The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has nullified the election of a member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Eseodo Federal Constituency, Kolade Akinjo, reports Vanguard.
The tribunal in its ruling on Tuesday said Akinjo was not qualified to fly the Peoples Democratic Party's flag for the March 28 election.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Anthony Ogar ruled that Akinjo was not a member of the PDP as at the time of the election and as such was not qualified as a candidate of the party in the said election.

Akinjo was the candidate of the Labour Party( LP) before he dumped the party for the PDP together with the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, before the March 28 election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Lucky Ayedatiwa had challenged the election of Akinjo on ground of his non- qualification to contest the election.
While the tribunal in its judgment held that the PDP candidate scored the highest number of lawful votes, it, however, said that Akinjo was not duly nominated by the PDP for the election as he was still a member of LP when he contested the election under PDP’s platform.
Justice Ogar ordered for a fresh election for the federal constituency.
