Edo - Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Thursday struck out an application seeking a declaration that Governor Adams Oshiomhole was not eligible to contest the July 14, 2012 governorship poll.
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gen. Charles Arhiavbere (retd.), had filed the application, alleging that Oshiomhole did not possess First School Leaving Certificate and as such was not qualified to contest the election.
Tribunal Chairman, Justice Suleiman Ambers, who gave the ruling in Benin, said the applicant “embarked on a wild goose chase.”
He added that the issue of academic qualification was a pre-election matter and struck out the application.
