Tribunal to hear petition against Gbajabiamila on July 27

07 July 2015, 16:00

Lagos - The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ikeja has fixed July 27 for the hearing of a petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the declaration of Femi Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the March 28 House of Representatives election in Surulere 1 constituency, reports Leadership.

The PDP and its candidate for the election, Tony Ashikodi is urging the tribunal to nullify the declaration of the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and declare Ashikodi as the rightful winner of the election.

Ashikodi is also asking the three-man tribunal headed by Justice C.U. Anwuka to nullify the election because of alleged irregularities and malpractices that characterised the poll.

Joined as respondents in the suit are the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) and the APC.

During the proceedings on Monday, Justice Anwuka struck out all pending applications earlier filed by both Gbajabiamila and INEC.
