Umeh suffers setback in APGA chairmanship bid

29 November 2012, 14:20 -

Enugu -  The bid by Chief Victor Umeh to retain his position as the National Chairman of APGA on Thursday suffered a setback as the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu could not rule on the order restraining him.

The court, presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro, adjourned the case to Jan. 15 following a letter from the counsel to APGA, Mr Chudi Obieze, that he was indisposed.

Obieze had informed the court that he had a sick leave for five days beginning from Wednesday.

Arguing against the adjournment, Umeh’s attorney, Mr Pat Ikwueto (SAN), said it was a delay tactic and urged the court to vacate the lower court order while the substantive suit continued.

Umeh filed the case to challenge a high court order restraining him from parading himself as the chairman of APGA.
