Uproar in Senate over petition against Amaechi

Abuja - In what could be termed has a deliberate plot to thwart the chances of former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi of becoming a minister, a petition against him was presented at the plenary session of the Senate on Wednesday, reports NewsDay.

The petition was submitted by the three Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) senator from Rivers State

The submission of the petition resulted in a rowdy session on the floor of the upper chamber.

Trouble started  when one of the three PDP senators from the state, George Sekibo raised a point of order to announce that he has a petition against the nomination of Amaechi as a minister.

Sekibo, while attempting to present the petition was immediately shouted down by some senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While APC senators roared against the petition being laid, those of the PDP insisted that the petition be laid for hearing.

Despite the APC protest, Senate President Bukola Saraki asked Sekibo to submit the petition.
