Abuja - Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, one of the founders of the newly-registered All Progressives Congress (APC), is confident of the party's prospects in the next general election.
Gaidam said the party would deliver democracy to Nigerians yearning for change.
"APC is the alternative that Nigerians want to build a stronger, united and more prosperous country and offers the assurances that the party will uphold and fulfil the expectations of the people," he added.
He welcomed the registration of the party by National Electoral Commission (INEC) last week.
Gaidam congratulated "all members of the new party and all Nigerians on this significant democratic leap forward."
A coalition of some Nigerian opposition parties culminated in the formation of APC in February.
It poses the biggest threat to the ruling People's Democratic Party in the 2015 general election.
