Rivers - Magnus Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District, played down reports the forthcoming polls had divided the Ogoni people.
He claimed instead, the people were eager to vote for him at the legislative re-run polls set for Saturday.
“I have actually never seen the Ogoni people united than they are now. I don't know how this election has divided the people of Ogoni,” said Abe.

“I would rather say that this election has united the people of Ogoni in a way that they have never been united before in recent times.”
Abe’s comments come in the wake of reports some Ogonis were wary of the elections as they coincide with an escalation of violence and militancy.
Abe nonetheless maintained the people were keen to participate.
“I have never seen the Ogoni people more united about their determination to elect somebody of their own choice to represent them this time around.”
