Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Rivers South East Senatorial District re-run election, Magnus Abe, has alleged a campaign against him ahead of the upcoming polls.
He said such a drive was to malign his character and incite the Ogoni people against him before the elections.
Abe said the alleged campaign emanated from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government linking him to the deadly violence in the region.
Agbe denied any knowledge of the military’s recent raid the home of ex-militant leader, Solomon Ndigbara, which sparked violence.

“I want to say clearly that Rivers people know that I am not a desperate politician and will never be. Between me and Governor (Nyesom) Wike who is desperate for power?” he asked.
An unspecified number of people have been killed after the army raided some Ogoni communities said to be enclaves of criminals.
The government of Wike last week denied any knowledge of the operation, suggesting there were no consultations before the raids were carried out.
