AD accuses Fayemi of planning to destabilise Ondo

23 November 2016, 16:42

Akure - The Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo State on Tuesday alleged that the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi in conjunction with top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were planning to lead an onslaught against the leaders of the AD in the state.

The party alleged that Fayemi and some leaders of the APC in the South West were planning to use security agencies to harass AD leaders ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election.

The party in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Kolawole Olabisi said the APC was intimidated by the support given to the AD governorship standard bearer, Olusola Oke by the people of the state, hence the resolve to harass his supporters.

Olabisi said: “It is ironical that a man who cried out that he was rigged out due to massive clampdown on his supporters in the 2014 Ekiti governorship election is the very man now trying to use the same tactics against us in Ondo State simply because he is now a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“We are aware that Fayemi is coordinating the onslaught against us with an array of security agents to arrest our leaders, beginning with the Director General of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organization, Bola Ilori, to decimate our followers few days before the election so that they can have a field to rig.

“He has also used the resources of the Federal Government for the campaign of the APC in the state and they are prepared to spend the Federal Government’s money on the election.

"By this monetization of the electoral process, Fayemi and his co-travelers are trying to capitalize on the poverty in the land. Here was a man, a Minister of the Federal Republic, boasting on live programme beamed to the whole world that APC would win at all cost insisting that anybody who says Akeredolu would not win in his lifetime would have Akeredolu victory happen after his death.”

“That’s the stuff of those who want to invite crisis in Ondo State; but God will not allow him and his co-travelers.

"The people of Ondo State are aware of the antics of the APC who are daily making spirited efforts to rig at all cost and foment trouble if they cannot achieve their aim.

"They will not only fail, but shall meet their Waterloo in the people who are resolute to cast their votes for a man they can trust, not an outsider they do not know.”
