05 October 2016, 16:11

Akure - The crisis rocking the Ondo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Tuesday as supporters of the candidate of the party, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and that of his closest challenger, Dr Segun Abraham clashed at the party secretariat in Akure, the Ondo State capital, reports Punch.

The clash lasted for hours, causing major roads such as Oba Adesida Road and others adjacent to it to be blocked.

The crisis led to the injury of party supporters and passersby who were running for safety so as not to be caught in the melee., Vanguard reports

Trouble started when some youths stormed the APC secretariat in the morning, demanding resignation of the National Chairman of the APC, John Odige-Oyegun.

They also demanded that Akeredolu should step down as candidate of the party.
