Uyo - The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Monday elected a new Speaker to replace the former Speaker, Aniekan Uko, whose election was nullified by the Court of Appeal on Tuesday, reports Vanguard.
The new Speaker, Onofiok Luke was unanimously elected by members during plenary a Monday.
Luke represents Nsit Ubium constituency in the House.

Luke was nominated by Nse Essien, member representing Onna and seconded by Mark Esset, member representing Nsit Atai.
In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker promised to work with the executive to bring development to the state and ensure that the dividends of democracy reached the grassroots.
