Alleged suspension of vice-chairman causes crisis in Edo APC

14 January 2016, 15:16

Benin City - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State may be enmeshed in a fresh crisis following the suspension of the state Vice Chairman and senatorial leader in Edo South, Gentleman Amego, reports Vanguard.

Amego was suspended by some leaders of the party in the state for alleged anti-party activities.

The party leaders alleged that Amegor failed woefully in organising the affairs of the party in the state, which according to them, led to the party’s failure to win majority of the National Assembly seats in the last election.

The leaders have set up a five-man disciplinary committee chaired by Michael Egharevba, to investigate the allegations. Former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Uyi Igbe, will serve as Secretary.

Amegor has, however, described the purported suspension as nullity, saying that all the allegations against him were baseless and without foundation.

Some party executives in state have also insisted  that Amegor remains the state Vice Chairman of the party, saying that those who signed the suspension letter were not executive members of the party.
